Oświadczenie Ogólnopolskiego Stowarzyszenia Rodzin Polskich Ofiar Obozów Koncentracyjnych

Z wielkim oburzeniem przyjmujemy wiadomość o planowanej aukcji dokumentów i osobistych pamiątek z czasów II wojny światowej, organizowanej przez niemiecki dom aukcyjny w Neuss. To, co zostało opisane w artykule, jest naszym zdaniem nie tylko moralnie naganne, ale głęboko niestosowne.

Listy więźniów obozów koncentracyjnych, dokumenty Gestapo, plakaty propagandowe, osobiste przedmioty ofiar - te przedmioty to nie są tylko “historyczne artefakty”, lecz fragmenty ludzkiego dramatu, traumatycznych przeżyć, tragedii rodzin, które zostały zniszczone. Wystawianie ich na sprzedaż traktuje cierpienie ludzi jak towar, co naszym zdaniem stanowi rażące naruszenie godności ofiar.

Wiele z tych dokumentów zawiera dane osobowe - nazwiska ofiar, ich historie, ich więzi z bliskimi. Te materiały powinny należeć przede wszystkim do rodzin ofiar lub instytucji pamięci (muzea, archiwa), które są zobowiązane do zachowania ich w duchu pamięci i szacunku, a nie do komercyjnego obrotu.

Apel o odwołanie aukcji:

Wzywamy organizatorów aukcji do natychmiastowego odwołania tego wydarzenia. Oczekujemy, że dom aukcyjny podejmie odpowiedzialność moralną i zrozumie, że pamięć o ofiarach II wojny światowej nie może być przedmiotem zysku finansowego.

Jako Stowarzyszenie Rodzin Ofiar niemieckich nazistowskich obozów koncentracyjnych czujemy szczególną odpowiedzialność za to, aby pamięć o zbrodniach nazistowskich była przekazywana z szacunkiem i odpowiedzialnością. Wspieramy inicjatywy, które promują gromadzenie takich dokumentów w instytucjach pamięci - muzeach, archiwach - w sposób, który pozwala na edukację, badania historyczne oraz oddawanie hołdu ofiarom.

Autentyczne dokumenty, świadectwa więźniów czy akta Gestapo mają ogromną wartość edukacyjną. Przekazanie ich do instytucji publicznych, a nie sprzedaż na aukcji, pozwala zapewnić, że będą one wykorzystywane do nauki przyszłych pokoleń - do zrozumienia mechanizmów terroru, dehumanizacji i masowego ludobójstwa.

Apel do polskich władz i instytucji:

Zwracamy się również do polskich instytucji - rządowych i pozarządowych - aby monitorowały takie przypadki handlu przedmiotami związanymi ze zbrodniami nazistowskimi oraz podejmowały działania mające na celu ochronę i repatriację (o ile to możliwe) tych dokumentów do polskich miejsc pamięci.

Statement of the National Association of Families of Polish Victims of Nazi Concentration Camps

We express our deep outrage upon learning about the planned auction of documents and personal items from the Second World War, organized by a German auction house in Neuss. What has been described in the article is, in our view, not only morally reprehensible but profoundly inappropriate.

Letters from concentration camp prisoners, Gestapo documents, propaganda posters, and personal belongings of victims are not merely “historical artefacts.” They represent fragments of human tragedy, trauma, and the destruction of countless families. Putting these items up for sale treats human suffering as a product, which we consider a gross violation of the dignity of the victims.

Many of these documents contain personal data - names, stories, and family connections. Such materials should belong first and foremost to the victims’ families or to memory institutions (museums, archives) responsible for preserving them with respect and dignity, not trading them for profit.

Call for cancellation of the auction:

We call on the organizers to immediately cancel the auction. The memory of the victims of the Second World War must never be treated as a commodity.

As an association representing the families of victims of Nazi concentration camps, we feel a particular duty to ensure that the history of Nazi crimes is preserved with dignity and responsibility. We support efforts to secure such materials for museums and archives, where they can contribute to education, research, and commemoration.

Authentic documents - prisoners’ testimonies, wartime correspondence, Gestapo files - carry immense educational value. Their place is in public institutions, not private collections, so that they remain accessible for future generations seeking to understand the mechanisms of terror, dehumanization, and mass murder.

Appeal to Polish authorities and institutions:

We urge Polish governmental and non-governmental institutions to monitor such cases of trade in materials connected to Nazi crimes and to take steps to protect and, when possible, repatriate these items to Polish memorial sites.

Stellungnahme des Landesverbands der Familien polnischer Opfer der nationalsozialistischen Konzentrationslager

Mit großer Empörung nehmen wir die Nachricht über die geplante Auktion von Dokumenten und persönlichen Gegenständen aus der Zeit des Zweiten Weltkriegs zur Kenntnis, die von einem deutschen Auktionshaus in Neuss organisiert wird. Was im Artikel beschrieben wurde, ist unserer Ansicht nach nicht nur moralisch verwerflich, sondern zutiefst unangemessen.

Briefe von KZ-Häftlingen, Gestapo-Dokumente, Propagandaplakate und persönliche Gegenstände der Opfer sind nicht bloß „historische Artefakte“. Sie sind Zeugnisse menschlicher Tragödien, traumatischer Erfahrungen und zerstörter Familien. Diese Gegenstände zum Verkauf anzubieten bedeutet, menschliches Leiden zur Ware zu machen – ein schwerwiegender Verstoß gegen die Würde der Opfer.

Viele dieser Dokumente enthalten persönliche Daten - Namen, Lebensgeschichten, familiäre Bindungen. Solche Materialien sollten in erster Linie den Familien der Opfer oder Gedenkinstitutionen (Museen, Archiven) gehören, die verpflichtet sind, sie mit Respekt zu bewahren und nicht kommerziell zu handeln.

Aufruf zur Absage der Auktion:

Wir fordern die Organisatoren auf, die Auktion umgehend abzusagen. Die Erinnerung an die Opfer des Zweiten Weltkriegs darf niemals zur Handelsware werden.

Als Verband der Familien polnischer Opfer der nationalsozialistischen Konzentrationslager fühlen wir eine besondere Verantwortung, dafür zu sorgen, dass die Geschichte der NS-Verbrechen würdevoll und verantwortungsvoll bewahrt wird. Wir unterstützen Initiativen, die solche Materialien für Museen und Archive sichern, wo sie der Bildung, Forschung und dem Gedenken dienen können.

Authentische Dokumente - Zeugnisse von Häftlingen, Kriegsbriefe, Gestapo-Akten - besitzen einen enormen Bildungswert. Ihr Platz ist in öffentlichen Institutionen, nicht in privaten Sammlungen, damit sie künftigen Generationen zugänglich bleiben, die die Mechanismen von Terror, Entmenschlichung und Massenmord verstehen wollen.

Appell an polnische Behörden und Institutionen:

Wir appellieren an die polnischen staatlichen und zivilgesellschaftlichen Institutionen, solche Fälle des Handels mit Materialien im Zusammenhang mit NS-Verbrechen zu überwachen und Maßnahmen zum Schutz sowie, wenn möglich, zur Rückführung solcher Dokumente an polnische Gedenkorte zu ergreifen.
